I truly hate and dislike when authors leave you with a extreme cliffhanger in order to get another book. It's unfinished and can't be called a complete story. I was enjoying the book until the end.

Promise to Marry Promises Volume 1 Jessica Wood 9781507514511 Books Reviews

Ok...this is another cliffhanger, of the 'if you want to know how it ends, you need to buy more books' variety. Am I the only one whose getting sick and tired of this would-be marketing strategy? Authors, tradionally, book 1 of a series ENDED, then came book 2, an off shoot of the side characters introduced in book 1. If that is not your intent, but instead you plan to trick readers into buying your books, my best advice would be, make the thing worth buying more to read! This "romance" was a joke, and a waste of time. I guess the only thing it has going for it, is, it was free! But it still managed to be a huge rip off at that! No more books by this author for me.
Should've read the reviews before reading. This is part one of a three part series, ends in a cliffhanger. Almost the whole book is flashbacks to the main character's childhood. Not an interesting read. The first book may have been free but the last two are pretty much $4 each, that's a lot of money to spend on mediocre or iffy titles. I would not recommend this book.
This book, overall is bad. The flashbacks to childhood are great and well written. But the pervertedness of the adult Chloe was too much for me. Doing her best friends dad for money (when she is in love with said best friend)? Gross, gross, gross.
There are SO many things wrong with this "book". First, as others have noted, it is not a book. It is also not a "novella" as it is billed. It is a teaser that forces you to buy the next two (?) books in order to get the full story. If you still want to, that is, after you read this first part. I do not choose to spend a single penny on this series, as I find it ludicrous in so many ways. After the first chapter where you realize that your protagonist's way of dealing with a cheating boyfriend and a disloyal best friend is to spend a week boozing and hooking up (explicitly!) with a guy she just met in the bathroom of a dive bar, it is hard to have a lot of empathy. But suspending disbelief, you then meet her seven-year-old self, where she says goodbye to her alcoholic mother to live with her loving, supportive aunt and uncle. She engages in dialog with the seven-year-old boy next door that is uttered by NO SEVEN-YEAR-OLD EVER. And then on to college, where for some completely unexplained reason she becomes a prostitute -- hello???? loving, supportive aunt and uncle!! THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN. And after "college" she becomes a lowly-paid administrative assistant living from paycheck to paycheck ... another unexplained step backward. And then there's that explicit cliffhanger ... I just can't. This thing is bad. Really bad.
The book wasn't a book but a short summary to lead to another book. You have a 10 year old talking like a 20 year old. Then you have a couple kids that were so close they made a pact. Yet, the cliff hanger was she became a prostitute in college to support herself. One of her regulars was the boys dad. The end. Who does that? Probably, not even a prostitute.
This should be called a 3 chapter teaser. It is the beginning of a book and you have to buy 2 more books to finish the story. I can't even say or think about if it is a good story. Don't waste your money.
I agree with those who said This is Not a Book. This is as short story with a punchline that is set up so you buy the second book. The characters are flimsy starting with the dialogue between 7 year olds, which is unbelievable. This is not a book. This can only be a vanity project by someone who wanted to cash in on ad placements on social media. The only saving grace...I received it for free.
I truly hate and dislike when authors leave you with a extreme cliffhanger in order to get another book. It's unfinished and can't be called a complete story. I was enjoying the book until the end.
